Four organisations, in business since 1996. Marla Yanice has spent her career building things meant to outlast her: buildings, businesses, and the people who run them.

- A separate nonprofit with its own website. Anything about its programmes, volunteering or giving is handled there rather than here.
Why accounting and construction
Because the same owner kept needing both: people building something need the numbers behind it, and people with numbers to sort out usually own property. They run as separate companies with separate work, and what they share is who answers for them.
That is the practical reason the two sit under one name. A property held through a business is a building question and a tax question at the same time, and here it is one conversation rather than two offices that have never spoken to each other.

Size is not the filter. One-person businesses and ordinary households are ordinary work here, and if something genuinely is not a fit you will be told that on the first call rather than sold something anyway.
Can I talk to past clients?
Asking for references before you hire anyone is the right move, and the useful version of it is specific: ask for someone whose job looked like yours, and when you reach them ask whether the price held, whether the schedule held, and whether anyone came back to fix what needed fixing.
